The messiest house in the country revealed
Niecy Nash (Reno 911) and her Clean House crew
have been searching for the messiest house in America and they’ll
reveal the winner of the not-so-prestigious title tonight at 9 ET
on the Style Network. The Clean House: Messiest Home in the Country 3
two-hour special will un-clutter the home of Sharon Baglien (a
shopaholic for everything from holiday decorations to on-sale
jackets) and her daughter, Brigitte, who has inherited some of her
mother’s habits. Messy homes are always fascinating, because,
in most cases, the items piling up have significant emotional value to
their hoarding owners. Click on the video below to see the Messiest Home auditions that made intern (and self-proclaimed neat freak) Steve Thompson want to cry. Tell us what you think Who’s News
readers. Are you constantly wiping down the surfaces of your already
highly disinfected house? Or do you wear the stacks of 20-year-old
newspapers sitting in your bathtub like a badge of honor?
Extremely ungrateful women.T he apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. They deserve each other. I would have left and let them live in their squalar. They should be ashamed of themselves.
FYI no one deserves to be trear like the Clean House Team was treated. Sharon is a detective, it does not mean she is a police officer she probably works for an agency. If a real police officer had that attitude at work I am sure they would face the boss for the misconduct and brassy mouth.
I hope the those 2 read all the bad things people are saying about them and their filthy home. EHHH MICE DROPPING. If they only knew what is carried in mice dropping — maybe not they really are the type of people who care
The mother iss a detective, right? I would be afraid to have to deal with a detective that does not live in reality. I would hope that someone in that line of work would be emotionally healthy. She is not!! Scary!
Clean House put forth an effort to help this family that ASKED for help. I am very disappointed by the disrespect shown to the Clean House cast and crew. Clean House should have stopped the show and spent the effort and money on a more deserving, appreciative family. What an embarrassment to Cincinnati. Their attitude – not their house!

@Whisper: Say what you want, but these people were not forced on the show, and have obviously seen the show before so they knew the drill. One thing I must say is that crew actually gives a damn, and I am sure it was not a slice of cake to clean that filth because most of the trash had been there for years and untouched, and to see mice running around lets you know they had all kinds of bacteria growing, mold, etc…
And I don’t care how much Clean House put in to the house, or if you feel they exploited them… The fact remains that they came to help these people who claimed they needed help.
I watched this episode for the first time today and was absolutely shocked that this Mother and Daughter duo acted like this. You all can say that it is the Mother’s fought that the daughter is like this all you want, but the fact was she got upset they could not fit all the clutter they wanted to keep back in the house as to why she drove off with that guy and was so RUDE to Niecy.
I don’t get why Clean House even continued on in the beginning because as rude as she was from the start I would have simply just been like screw it .And I don’t know why she wanted to keep her Grandmother’s purses. No need in keeping things you are not going to use or sale.
Had this dumb, unappreciative, disrespectful, women had any sense they could have sold the junk and earned 17k themselves or more and paid for their therapy or did the house the way they wanted it. If I was them I’d be ashamed to show my self in public, not because of how nasty the house was but because of their character. If I worked with them, I’m sure I’d hear some nasty comments.
What is so funny about this situation is that this Sharon lady is probably telling everyone at work and who will listen is how exploited she was by the show. What she does not realize and never will is that she is wrong in how she behaved. People like her, think they are always right. If she only knew how the people she works with are like shaking their heads in disbelief. She is a detective ? Well guess what, this woman does not have a clue.
excuse typing errors but those ladies really peeessstttt me off! You need to go back and take everything out of their house and give to someone that would appreciate it all!

Kuddos to Neicy and the crew. It’s wonderful how respectful and kind they stayed in the middle of all the abuse! When Neicy hugged and loved on the girl at the end it showed real character on their part. Good job Clean House. Not sure anyone else could have done it!!!
I must say I love the show and watch it regularly. But the messiest home in America episode needs to have a psychiatrist on board. These people need help. For someone to live in that type of filth and have the audacity to say its 30 years of clutter is simply insane. My parents have lived in my childhood home for over 45 years. It is a normal home with bedrooms you can sleep in, a kitchen you can cook in, no mice and none of my childhood toys! These people were so unbelievably rude and ungrateful my mouth was open for the entire show in disbelief. I read somewhere that the two then scoured the Cincinnati Salvation Armies looking for their “lost treasures”. This pigsty will be back in business in two weeks. Anyone who would live in such filth and not see it cannot be helped in a Clean House episode. To see the daughter talking about all her lotions and soaps and the family not have hot water in the bathroom was so sad it was almost laughable.
1st of all…people will never look @ them the same way..That is just living like pigs..
2nd of all..When Nicey was crying & the mom disgustingly said she would not want to hear what I got to say about that.. well she should know what Cincy people think of her right now…A BIG PIG!!!!
3rd of all…I hope the daughter reviews the show & sees the fowl language she used to Nicey out in the parking lot in the car with some guy who took her away.. He better be sure he wants to be with that wacky family. They got their house cleaned but they are idiots and glad not to know them.
Words cannot express how disturbing this was. The mother-daughter relationship, the denial, and the self rightousness drove me to anger. I am truly baffled at these two. What a waste!
I love the show and specially admired the whole cast and crew how they handled the mom and daughter behavior. I hope that they contemplated their action and apologize to all the clean house cast/crew.
We all have our issues and it’s not easy to have them broadcast on national TV for others to judge without all the evidence.
Running away from the problem and the denial seem to be this family’s M.O. I wonder what pain and brokenness are under the surface. What happened to Bridget’s dad? What motivated Sharon to be a police officer? Was Sharon abused when she was younger and to what extent? What is she tying to burry emotionally by burying under all of that stuff? What internal demons is she afraid of confronting now that the Pandora’s Box of her home has been opened and physically exorcized?
Finally, why don’t police departments provide more emotional help to or mandate therapy for their officers. These are folks who carry guns, prosecute criminals, arrest others for threatening people, and supposedly provide law and order.
OMG they were so ungrateful. How much was raised from the sale – my husband changed the channel? Atleast something goes to a worthy cause.
I can not believe they were not sick from the rats. Nasty people
I guess I’m just tired of some of the ungrateful people on this show. They are so undeserving. They don’t really want help and give lots of attitude when given this wonderful gift. I understand that it benefits the Style Network but no one forces them onto the show. These women are mentally ill and need help but cleaning up can be the first step to getting better. Just like addicts, you have to get clean then start to repair the deeper damage. Unfortunately, the bad behavior and attitude makes me want to turn off the show.
I am watching the show for the 3rd time and I can’t stop watching it, like a car crash. This woman is Crazy, feel sorry for the girl, she had no chance. I’d like to see a continuation.
Ok, I agree that these people were beyond rude. Most of the episodes I have seen show an obvious change in the emotional state of the family members as they go from clutter to clean; Not so much with this one. It is very easy for us all to sit in front of our TV’s and cringe at the gross state in which these ladies live. Most of us probably wonder who could ever live like that. It’s easy to solve there problem from our side…CLEAN IT UP!! It is not really that simple. There are emotional issues running very deep that cause a person to hold on to things in the way that this family did/does. They need help in the same way an alcoholic or drug addict does. If a person has a problem with drugs simply taking them away does not solve the problem. Drug and alcohol abuse are symptoms of addiction and in order to treat the disease the underlying issues have to be dealt with. These two people are sick and need to find a way to get better. The money spent on the renovation would have been much better spent on some serious therapy.
I HAVE NEVER!!! Shame on the both. The mother just drove me crazy. Everyother word was
OVERWHELMING! DUH ya think. That house was a pigsty that I am sure the pigs wouldn’t stay in. The daughter is spoiled ROTTEN. Shame on her for speaking to Niecy like that. The mother for running away because of some purses. I am sure if they went on the truck someone could have found them for her. I have never seen two people so ungrateful. I think Niecy should have left after she came to tears. The family didn’t deserve their help.
I have never seen such ungrateful people in my life!!! They should be ashamed of themselves. They should have to pay a fine and be made to pay for the renovations that they did not appreciate one bit.
This show brought memories of my mother to the fore. The 3 bedroom house she lived in for 40+ years was filled floor to ceiling with junk.
I understand this family more than I want to. The family is stuck in this circle of wanting to keep hold of things that they think of as memories. What they don’t understand is that memories are in your mind or in pictures… things are just things.
The mother in this piece needs help… not a new clean house.. but help to understand what is important to a satisfied life and what is just “baggage”. Sadly, since Sharon doesn’t feel she has a problem, the house the show cleaned up will be back to the same in a short time.
One other thing… I would be humiliated beyond belief to be named the messiest house in the country. Why anyone would want to be on this show is beyond me! Would anyone want that 2 minutes of fame so much they would actually call the show rather than clean up their mess themselves? YIKES
This is truly my first time posting anything, but I was so disturbed by these people and their attitudes that I got online to look for opinions from others, and am glad that people saw what I did. Two delusional self-centered ungrateful disgusting slobs of people who made a fool of themselves on television. Mom and daughter-you are truly pathetic!
Those two did not deserve the time, effort, and utilities put into them. The daughter was particularly hideous and embarrassing.
I watched this show twice to make sure that I was seeing things correctly. I could not believe the attitude and behavior of these females. I can understand why the daughter acts like she does… she has a perfect role model for learning to be rude, crude, and just plain nasty! When you make both Niecy and Trish cry, then your behavior is horrendous! What a pair of ungrateful, obnoxious, and mean-spirited women they are! Guess misery really does love company! One more thing, I think that Trish’s lesson on why the daughter has no money was a quick flash of realization but it didn’t last long! As for the mother’s ex-fiances, they are probably very glad that they didn’t marry into the clutter and bad behavior.
The reactions to this family are understandable. But don’t forget that the show is loving this. They are making all kinds of money off of these peoples’ pain and dysfunction. They are not doing charity here for families in need. They are selecting the families that will make the best TV and people who say yes, please help me and do whatever you think will help do not make good TV. They may have put $100,000 into this house but they made so much more off of this family’s problems.
The show is what it is and I usually enjoy it, but the very nature of the show is exploiting family’s frailities and they openly disrespect the individuals involved by making fun of their problems. So it is rather disgusting for them to get so insulted by a family that doesn’t show them respect.
I hope the daughter is aware that no one will look at her the same way. What a waste of time cleaning that house in two weeks it will be back to the same dirty pit. Instead of being on clean house they should have been on Intervention. I know those Fiances of the mother are glad they got out of that dirt pit. Or are they still there in one of the save bins. The purses are missing what a joke they were probably garbage.
These people should have been left in their misery. They did not appear to appreciate anything that was done for them. The mother with her excuses was shameful. They should have been ashamed of themselves. To live this way is disturbing. As far as the daughter is concerned, the apple does not fall far from the tree. I applaude the crew for putting up with this disrespectful bunch, and kudos to all of the fiances that left this mentally disturbed women. Something is trully wrong there. Clean house should think about screening the next bunch of coo koo hoarders.
those two were the most disrespectful pair I have ever seen, I think they should have been left in their mess, cause they didn’t deserve the remodel at all.
Unreal. It is clear that the mother in this situation has a severe problem with denial and hoarding. She kept saying it was 30 years of accumulated stuff as if that was an excuse for it. What she didn’t seem to understand was that when you buy things over the years, you get rid of things as you go along. Keeping everything from 30+ years is not acceptable and it is not normal.
She and her daughter were ridiculously rude to the crew. When Niecy started crying in the basement, Sharon’s comment was “You don’t want to hear what I think about her crying in the basement…” in a nasty tone. What in the world?? The basement literally made her cry and Sharon was acting like she was angry that Niecy cried. I would have cried too. It’s a horrendous way to live. Sharon seems to think it’s normal.
I am sad for this family and they cannot be helped until they realized that this is not normal, it is a problem, and they get help for it. The daughter, Brigette, needs to move out of mom’s house and mom needs to clean up her language as well. She is angry and bitter in so many ways.
I cannot imagine living that way for so many years and I have no doubt the amazing work the CH crew did was all for naught. That house will be a mess again before the year is out.
First of all, anyone who wins this ‘contest’ should not be given a ‘badge of honor’, but a badge of ‘SHAME’. I am ashamed and embarrassed for this family for even living in the same state as these two women because they were both so ungrateful and disrespectful. This show is almost a waste because they do such wonderful things for folks that really don’t deserve it. The problems most of these families face is far deeper than a ‘mess’ in the home and I can bet the bank that most of the homes this show has come to ‘save’ have just ended up in the same state they were in when the show first chose them. I would love to see updates on ANY family that has been on this show. I think the show should change gears, and do the same makeovers for folks that have genuine financial, medical, or foundation problems and start ‘saving’ folks that are truly in debt. Most of the people on this show just want someone to come in and makeover their home because they are too cheap and lazy to do it. Make a statement and start helping people out there that truly want and NEED help! Not these self-centered, ungrateful jerks like in this episode. And to the mother and daughter if you are reading this-SHAME ON YOU!! YOUR BEHAVIOR AND ACTIONS ON THIS SHOW WERE COMPLETELY INEXCUSABLE AND UNCALLED FOR! YOU DON’T DESERVE WHAT YOU WERE GIVEN! I am just thankful your ‘garbage’ was sold for a charity and that you didn’t actually benefit from that 17,000 dollars. You should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!
If I were either one of those two women, I would be ashamed to show my face in public. The entire country now knows what disgusting, FILTHY, people they are. I’m really concerned about the Mother (and I use that term loosely) as to her mental state. I cannot believe she is a detective. If she were any kind of real detective, she should be able to find those purse’s she accused others of taking. If the purse’s were so important, then why didn’t she put them in a safe place, like her car, before everyone started cleaning up that pig sty. They both need serious counseling. I’m glad they are not my neighbors. Now that their house is clean I hope they work on cleaning up their “potty” mouths and their attitude.
I have seen almost every episode of clean house including the messiest home specials and it never ceases to amaze me when people are ungrateful for the gifts they are given.
It is funny that those families on the show who have to sell their things for the renovation budget (+ clean house’s matching money, which is a mere fraction of what is spent on the “messiest home” episodes), generally seem the most grateful. However, when the renovation/ repair budget (somewhere upward of $75k for this episode) is being picked up by the show the family becomes more confrontational, rude, and generally disrespectful.
It was really disappointing to see this wonderful gift and imagine how it will be squandered by the apparently dysfunctional family to whom it was given. I hope that these two women will be able to get the help, with their clutter and other apparent issues, of which they are so desperately in need.
Kudos to Niecy, Mark, Trish, and Matt (and the rest of their team), for braving the demons, the clutter, and the mice plaguing this family. As for the show itself…it was another achievement to what can be done with good design, function, and organization.
I was shocked at this show. The clean house people really gave them a unbelievable gift of time, hard-work, and a new home. The fact that they were not just floored at the outcome and overjoyed at the gift was just more than I could understand.
I have to think that they are acting out from the extreme feelings of humiliations and being “overwhelmed”. I don’t think I would be myself in that same situation either. Trying to find a reason for their rudeness aside now…. Let me just say that they did not seem at all as joyful and appreciative as you might expect for someone (a team of someone’s) coming in and basically pulling them out of a pile of trash and into a home that anyone would love to live in. That’s just my 2 cents.
The show was so upsetting to watch, Nicey and her crew were especially nice and objective. The look was classic on Nicey’s face she brought a alot of Class to the whole show! I on the other hand would of told them that they can continue to live in that S—t H—! that they called home ! Sharon and her daughter deserve to wallow in Chaos and Dirt forever!

Having someone in my family who is a hoarder and being in a hosue very similar to those featured on this show, I hope the producers get some help for them after the cleanup. Otherwise, it will just come back.
I watched this and was surprised at how these two actually put their house on television. They were so rude and should have been humiliated by their behavior. Denial is a word that these two know well.
Very disturbing………I wish they had chosen someone else. Someone who would have appreciated it.
This house was absolutely disgusting as was the mothers mouth. I think clean house picked it right as being the messiest house, but maybe should have chosen someone else’s home that would have appreciated it way more than that dispicable human being that calls herself a Mother and a Detective. And instead of Niecy having to watch her drive off the whole Clean House Crew should have pulled out of this one and let that rude woman watch them pull out. Unreal how she hoards and has an excuse for everything. But now the whole world knows what an ungrateful person she is. An to make an accusation against the very people who are TRYING to help you for stealing a purse and then leaving the show before it was over was like a slap in the face to the whole crew. Now they have the title as the “MESSIEST HOME IN THE COUNTRY” & “THE MOST UNGRATEFUL FAMILY IN THE COUNTRY “!!!!!
These two woman are despicable, disgusting, nasty and psychologically screwed in the head and that’s putting it mildly. Oh, did I mention that they are a bunch of pigs? I can’t imagine that people live that way and find nothing wrong with it. (Wack Jobs) I think the Clean House crew should have left when that mother opened her foul mouth the very fist time. Well it goes to show you that helping people does not pay off. I guarantee that if Clean House went back to that house in one year, it will be clutter filled once again. Can’t help the mentally insane. There isn’t enough medication for those woman or for anyon who has to deal with them. As they say, misery loves company and these two can have each other. This is one episode that I wish I could have jumped through the television just the slap them both. Can you say “DRAMA QUEENS”!!!!!
OMG I can’t believe the mess! I don’t know how that woman can go back to work and face her co-workers. I think they were a couple of ungrateful rude idiots. I am sure nothing is going to help them. I am sorry that “Clean House” helped them. I think it was a waste of time.
this show made me very uncomfortable. i would not hav ehelped them at all. They were were very rude on the show.
Test of Who’s News Blog comments
I just moved to Houston, TX where I am living with one of my husband’s friends who is a “clutter-bug!”
My room is ONE big storeroom! All of the rooms have electronics and stuff he has ordered; some of them still in the package. The floors are all concrete, but he has all of the materials to finish the floors, but he went on vacation. I am housesitting while he is away and feeding his cat. He has banana boxes everywhere. His room is a storage closet too– for God knows what, I don’t know! I am afraid of spiders, and this place gives me the creeps!
