Although it seemed like a catfight was happening before our very eyes last night on American Idol ,  Kara DioGuari told Ryan Seacrest today on his KIIS-FM radio show, that she and Katy Perry are not feuding .

"People actually think that I was upset by this -- like there was tension," said DioGuardi.  "When I look at it, I think that it's really funny. I think that it's really good that she disagreed with me. I think that it's important that people have different opinions or else who wants to watch the show? It'd be boring."

When Seacrest asked if there was any tension with Perry, DioGuardi answered "not really." She added, "It's Katy. I've known Katy for a long time."

But DioGuardi admitted that some members of her family thought the two were angry. "My Italian cousins back home wrote me texts like, "'Does she need a smack down?' I was like, 'No. You've got to chill out.'"
