Pierce Brosnan names some of his favorite things

THE GHOST WRITERPierce Brosnan’s a pretty busy guy lately, starring as a wise centaur in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, plus having three films opening in the next month. The former James Bond stars as a former British prime minister in Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer (opening nationally today) opposite Ewan McGregor; acts with Twilight star Robert Pattinson in next week’s Remember Me; and plays Susan Sarandon’s on-screen husband in The Greatest (in New York and Los Angeles theaters April 2). I talked with him for a feature in this weekend’s magazine, and also had him name a few of his favorite things. Read below for those, and check out a clip from The Ghost Writer.

His favorite band: “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. His words, music and poetry have carried me through many stages of my life, of happiness and grief. He’s a major, major influence in my life.”

His favorite romantic movie: The African Queen. That’s classic.”

Sexiest women on screen: “I always think that Monica Bellucci just burns it up, but you don’t see enough of her. Halle Berry does it. She has a wonderful sexuality to her. Kate Winslet is very sexy. And oh, Penelope Cruz…”

Who he’s most impressed by: Barack Obama. He’s someone over the last year or so who has been very impressive, and he will just have to endure. Also George Clooney. I think what George did [with his Haiti telethon] was magnificent. I’m impressed by the way he conducts himself as an actor, movie star, producer and humanitarian.”

Brosnan easily had 2-3 Bond’s left in him.
Terrible short-sighted move on Barbara Brocoli’s part.
Brosnan, like Connery and Moore before him, was synonymous with the role.
The healthy box office returns of Indiana Jones 4 and Rambo 4 prove it’s all about the actor, not age.
Cubby considered hitting the re-set button around the time of ‘The Living Daylights’ but knew better.
Sady, Barbara has proven herself unfit to carry the 007 franchise into the future.
Daniel Craig can chew the victorian scenerey like many a victorian ham, but he is not a looker.
His casting is the equivalence of replacing Sean with Charles Laughton.
    A fine thespian, but a plug-ugly troll.
